The Return to Hisamatsu
This place makes excellent hot dogs and excellent ham sandwiches.

It has been quite a while since I last visited one of Tsukuba’s best hot dog places. To be exact, this is a German-style butcher shop that sells sausages and pork, and they are all amazing. The last time I visited this place was back in April of last year. That is way too long.
Since I was in the area of the butcher shop, I decided to drop by for a visit. What I didn’t expect was for this great butcher shop to have a new menu item, and for that new item to completely blow me away!
Today’s post is about Tsukuba’s very own Hisamatsu.
Hisamatsu
Hisamatsu is a small butcher shop located in the Sakemaru area of Tsukuba. I won’t go into too much detail about the interior or the menu. If you want more information about the shop, check out last year’s post:

I decided to visit Hisamatsu on a sunny Saturday afternoon after checking Google Maps and realizing I was in the area. It had been a while since my last visit, and I was already thinking about the incredible hot dog I was going to have when I got there. I was also considering grabbing some sausages to take home for dinner later.
When I arrived at Hisamatsu, the butcher shop was busy. There were customers shopping for meat, while others were picking up hot dogs to take home. Before I grabbed my ticket for the hot dog, I noticed that Hisamatsu had a new sandwich on the menu.
It was hard for me to put the hot dog ticket back, but after a little hesitation, I grabbed the sandwich ticket instead and walked up to the counter to order one. I am happy to say that I do not regret my decision at all!
Tsuku Buns
After giving my ticket to the staff at the counter and paying, my Tsuku Buns sandwich was ready. I think “Tsuku” comes from Tsukuba, while “Buns” are, well, the buns of the sandwich. The sandwich came with fresh baby greens, a bunch of slices of ham, and what I believe was a vinegary onion relish dressing.
I decided to get the sandwich to go and eat it in my car. After taking one bite, I immediately fell in love with this sandwich. Everything in it was fresh and flavorful. The ham was soft and tender, while the pretzel buns were nice and soft and held the whole sandwich together surprisingly well.
I loved every bite of this sandwich and couldn’t get enough of the meat. My only complaint was that I wish the sandwich had been bigger. Next time, I will probably order two. Mrs. Ibaraki Eats has yet to try this sandwich, so I’ll have to get one for her as well. So, I will probably need four next time!
Even though this was a short post, I believe it is important for all of you to know about Hisamatsu and Tsuku Buns. All the meat on display looks delicious, and their hot dogs and sandwiches are a great treat for anyone looking for something different. I hope to go back soon and buy a bunch of Tsuku Buns to take home.
So, if you are looking for some fantastic ham, sausages, or just a great hot dog or sandwich, why not give Hisamatsu a chance? Who knows? You might see me there, eating a hot dog while taking four Tsuku Buns home with me.

Historica Coffee Company First Anniversary Party
This Saturday, one of my favorite coffee places, Historica Coffee Company, will be celebrating their one-year anniversary!
Historica will have live music, raffles, delicious coffee and food (of course), and they will also be serving a special Brazilian dish called Feijoada.
This is such a great coffee place that I have already written about them twice! If you haven’t checked out Historica Coffee Company yet, I highly recommend coming down and celebrating their anniversary with them. If you have visited before, you should come back and celebrate with them too!

Village Market 5th Anniversary
Speaking of anniversaries, the Village Market Tsukuba will be celebrating their five-year anniversary this Sunday!
This market is the place to go for fresh, chemical-free produce, a tasty lunch, and some good coffee. I have always loved the market because it has been a friendly place to meet new people, try different food trucks and produce, and just have an overall good time.
I want to thank the market for five great years of being a staple in the Tsukuba community, and I look forward to seeing many more years of this amazing Village Market.
