It has been a long time since I last wrote about this ramen place. In fact, the last time I wrote about it was back in 2021! If you would like to check out my old post about this ramen shop, here is the link:

When I first visited this ramen place, I wrote about how great it was, especially the gyoza. Everything I had there was delicious, and I couldn’t wait to go back. Then, the ramen shop appeared on a special TV program, and suddenly, they became super busy. Mrs. Ibaraki Eats and I were never able to get in again. After that, they changed their schedule, and we definitely couldn’t stop by anymore.
Can you believe it took us six years to go back!? Even though it had been such a long time since our last visit, everything was still the same, and the ramen and gyoza were still excellent.
Today’s post is all about our return to Tsuchiura City’s very own Kammon Ramen!

Kammon Ramen (Come on Ramen)

Kammon Ramen is located in the Kamitakatsu area of Tsuchiura City, just a short drive from Tsuchiura AEON Mall. The ramen shop has been around for years and is beloved by the locals. I won’t go into too much detail about the interior of Kammon Ramen or the menu. For that, you can check out the link to my old post. Not much has really changed since then.
When Mrs. Ibaraki Eats and I walked in, we were comforted by the fact that the wooden tables and floors were still the same, and the menu hadn’t changed all that much either.
Our favorite gyoza was still on the menu, and the interesting ramen selections were still there as well. Speaking of gyoza, there was no way I was going to leave Kammon Ramen without ordering their number-one gyoza!

Curry Cheese Gyoza
Before our ramen came to the table, we ordered the number-one gyoza on the menu: the curry cheese gyoza. How did it taste after six years of not having it? Incredible! It was still just as delicious as I remembered.
The flavor of the curry mixed with the minced meat was amazing, and the cheese was a welcome addition to the whole delicious package. This gyoza has to be one of my favorite gyoza in all of Ibaraki. It is a crime that I haven’t had it in such a long time!
Mrs. Ibaraki Eats is a big fan of this gyoza as well. She had a look of pure bliss on her face every time she took a bite. I hope I don’t have to wait nearly as long before I get to eat this incredible gyoza again.

White Sesame Seed TanTanmen
Finally, our ramen arrived at the table. This was Mrs. Ibaraki Eats’ ramen: the white sesame seed tantanmen. For those of you who don’t know, tantanmen is made with wheat ramen noodles served in a creamy and spicy sesame broth. Unlike many other types of ramen, tantanmen usually doesn’t have chashu. Instead, it is topped with minced meat.
This tantanmen also came with a little bit of rayu, which is chili oil, drizzled across the top of the soup. The tantanmen looked amazing, and Mrs. Ibaraki Eats couldn’t wait to dig in. She tried some of the noodles, coughed a bit because of the rayu, and gave it a thumbs up.
I tried some of the tantanmen next, and I had to agree with her assessment. The broth was very rich and creamy, and I loved the spicy kick it added. The noodles were thin, so they didn’t soak up too much of the broth, but they had a nice flavor of their own that went perfectly with the tantanmen.
It was a delicious start to our ramen dinner!

C-1 Grand Prix Inductee Curry Ramen
I know that with a name like that, this ramen seems a little proud and full of itself, but that is the name on the menu, and it has definitely earned that title. According to Kammon Ramen, this ramen has won four awards for its noodles and a fifth award in the overall ramen category. It wears its title with pride, and after slurping up some of the noodles, I can see why.
It was a curry-flavored ramen, but all the other ingredients, the spicy rayu, vegetables, and chashu, tasted like they were made for one another. This was an amazing bowl of ramen, and with every slurp of the noodles, I felt like I could have eaten four more bowls. I simply couldn’t stop eating it!
I was a little disappointed that there was no renkon in my ramen, but it isn’t renkon season yet. I guess I’ll just have to wait a little longer.
This is definitely the ramen you’ll want to try if you decide to visit Kammon Ramen

Hisashiburi
After finishing our delicious ramen and incredible gyoza—seriously, this gyoza is terrific—it was time to head home. Our experience at Kammon Ramen was filled with nostalgia and, of course, plenty of tasty food. We loved every bite of our gyoza and noodles. It was a pleasure to come back and enjoy Kammon Ramen’s amazing ramen and gyoza again. I just hope we don’t have to wait another six years before we have it again!
So, if you are around the Tsuchiura AEON Mall area and are looking for an amazing bowl of ramen, why not give Kammon Ramen a chance? Who knows? You might even see us there, slurping up some tasty ramen and enjoying that wonderful curry cheese gyoza!
Enjoy!
