Brisket in Ibaraki!? That is a phrase I thought I would never even dream of. I have had brisket in Tokyo and it was fantastic. But Ibaraki!? I wish I could say I had this brisket at a restaurant in Ibaraki, but I can't. I had this brisket from a food truck that sometimes comes to Ibaraki. Not only does the owner of this food truck make great BBQ brisket but he is also a pastor. Today, I am posting about a very interesting and delicious food truck called Pastor's BBQ.

Pastor's BBQ
Pastor's BBQ is a BBQ food truck that travels around Ibaraki (mainly Southern Ibaraki, Chiba, and Tokyo. When Pastor's BBQ comes to Ibaraki, they are usually in Moriya, Tsukubamirai, or Bando City.
I first encountered Pastor's BBQ at the last Banzai event in Tsukubamirai City. My wife was looking for parking while I was looking for beer and food. I luckily ran into the lovely family from All Right Coffee (they make amazing coffee and sweets, make sure to try their new mint chocolate latte). They told me that there was a food truck that did American BBQ and that I had to try them immediately. After my wife found parking, we went searching for this American BBQ food truck and found Pastor's BBQ.

The Menu
Pastor's BBQ was busy during the Banzai event so we had to wait in line for a few minutes. When we finally got to the counter of the food truck, we ordered the brisket. Unfortunately, the menu items were all written in Japanese. Here are some of them translated into English:
BBQ Brisket, Spare Rib (one), French Fries, Brisket Rice Bowl, and Meat Cheese Hotdog.
There are also drinks available. What I was interested in and regret not ordering is the Pastor's Original Craft Cola.
Once we ordered our brisket, we were given a pager and told to wait a few minutes. When my wife received our pager she asked the owner of the food truck if he was really a pastor and he said yes. He sometimes gives sermons online. Now we know why it is called Pastor's BBQ.
We both walked around the Banzai event for a little while and then our pager went off.

Pastor's Brisket
We received our BBQ brisket and it looked glorious. There were about for long slices of brisket in our take-out tray plus some pickles. For 1000 yen, that might be a bit expensive but making brisket isn't exactly a cheap venture.
My wife let me have the first slice. I bit into the juicy-looking brisket and was transported to a world of BBQ happiness. It was amazing. That soft and tender meat with that crisp burnt outside was incredible. The BBQ sauce wasn't too bad. It wasn't sweet like most of the BBQ sauces I have had in Japan. It did go very well with the brisket. I loved every bite of that brisket and was disappointed when it was over. I needed more brisket.
My wife tried her brisket slice and gave me a look that said "This is what I have been wanting since we had it in Tokyo." She absolutely loved her brisket. After we finished our brisket, I went up to the pastor and said "This American guy thanks you for some great BBQ."

Thanks for the Great Brisket
Pastor's BBQ, thank you so much for the delicious brisket. It was an experience that I will soon not forget. I do wish you would come to my area of Ibaraki soon. I think the next time we meet, I am going to have to convince you that many people around Tsukuba would love to try your brisket.
If you would like to try Pastor's BBQ and are in the Moriya area this Saturday or next Saturday, Pastor's BBQ will be set up at Branch Moriya.

I hope I can have Pastor's BBQ's brisket soon but alas, I don't think I can make it to Moriya for a while. So until then, I will have to dream of that delicious brisket.
Until next time Pastor's BBQ.
