Mini Post: Some Sad News

Some sad news on a few clousers.

Mr. Ibaraki Eats

Hello my fellow Ibarakians!
Unfortunately, this is not a happy post. I have been driving around and looking on Google to find that some restaurants that I like and have posted about have closed their doors for good. Here are a few restaurants that we have to say goodbye to.

Churrasco B

It is with great sadness that I announce that Tsukuba's only Brazilian steakhouse has closed its doors. It was a nice place that grilled tasty meat. Also, they made great beef curry. The Ibaraki Eats Duo had a delicious lunch there many years ago, and we are sad to see this place go.

Laid Back Burger

This one hurts. I remember the first time I walked into Laid Back Burger, and the first thing that happened was I got a delicious and strong smell of grilled hamburgers. I loved the music at Laid Back Burger, I loved the atmosphere, and the burgers were excellent. Unfortunately, I was only able to go once. Life, and my schedule, did not allow me a second visit. Even though I always wanted to go back. Mrs. Ibaraki Eats had never even tried the place. It broke my heart to see that when I finally had some time with Mrs. Ibaraki Eats to visit this place, Google listed it as permanently closed. Laid Back Burger, you will be missed.

Update
I just heard that where Laid Back Burger used to be, there is a new burger shop called "Burger Boy." I haven't been to this burger place yet, and I am not sure if it is run by the same owner. When I go there, I will be sure to write about it.

Burger Cafe Wikiwiki

Another burger place bites the dust. WikiWiki made some pretty good burgers, delicious onion rings, and tasty shakes. Their chicken and waffles were OK. Great chicken, but not so great waffles. My wife loved their milkshakes, and she will miss them. It is sad to see this place go, along with all its menu items.

Troppo Donuts

Don't worry. This is the only good news out of all the bad news. Troppo Donuts hasn't closed down; they have moved! They used to be near the Sakura Highway entrance, but they have moved to the Gaukuennomori area near Costco. These donuts are delicious, and I hope you give them a try. Nice to have a little bit of good news after all that sad news.

I'm afraid there is one more piece of sad news I must share. The old Ibaraki Eats blog page will soon shut down. I have had that page since 2020 and have written about a lot of great restaurants, food trucks, and events. However, due to certain issues with WIX, it appears that my old blog site may come to an end. With that, I will be selecting a few of my favorite blog posts from my old site and reposting them on this site.

Sorry if I brought you down today. Not to worry, there are still plenty of great places to eat worth exploring!
To all the great places that have closed their doors, I salute you and thank you for all the delicious food.
