Burger month continues!
Today I am going to talk about my adventure to a burger place that not only serves humans, but dogs too! I drove to this place quite recently. Unfortunately, Mrs. Ibaraki Eats could not join me for this adventure since she was working. As for myself, I had just finished work and was driving around Tsukuba. I was starving and checked Google on what was nearby. Google let me know that there was a burger place nearby and it was called Corgi Buns Burger. I automatically decided that was where I would be having my late lunch.

Corgi Buns Burger

Corgi Buns Burger is located in the Midorino area of Tsukuba. It is only a four minute walk from Midorino Station. Corgi Buns is on the second floor of a small shopping center. The first floor is full of restaurants, izakayas, and a hair salon. The second floor has Corgi Buns, a coffee place, and a kids sports recreation center. If you drive to Crogi Buns like I did, there is a parking area for the shopping center, but please know that the parking area is only free for up to an hour. After an hour, you will have to pay.
I got to Corgi Buns around 4:00 pm and headed inside. Please go through the right door. The left door is the dog trimmers' shop.

Inside

Walking into Corgi Buns is interesting. This burger place is quite small. To the left of the entrance are two tables. One table seats four and the other only two. If you walk further back into the restaurant, three more tables seat up to four people each, and there is a small counter area. The back area is a bit of a tight squeeze while walking around. What I found to be really interesting is that there is a glass window showing the inside of the dog trimmers' shop. You can drop your dog off at the trimmers, grab a burger, and watch as the trimmer gives your dog a make over.
I grabbed the seat by the entrance and checked out the menu.

The Menu

Sorry, my non-Japanese speakers, the menu is completely in Japanese. Corgi Buns does three types of dishes: burgers, hamburg steak, and pancakes. The burgers are the classic, the cheese burger, double burger, double cheese burger, avocado burger, and the garlic burger. If you would like an extra topping for your burger, Corgi Buns has cheese, avocado, a fried egg, and an extra beef patty. This of course is an extra charge. Corgi Buns also makes chicken sandwiches if you are not into beef patties.
For drinks, the menu has craft beers and other soft drinks.
What is great about this place is that there are also small burgers for your furry companion. I watched another customer come into Corgi Buns with a small toy poodle. The staff prepared a small water dish for this small cute doggy, and then brought out a small pumpkin-flavored burger. That dog devoured that burger and wagged its tail for more.
I ordered my burger and waited while admiring the cuteness of that toy poodle.

Avocado Burger with Cheese Set

When my burger came to my table, I looked at the buns and laughed a little bit. "It does look like a corgi's butt." I thought to myself.
I ordered the avocado burger and added cheese. I also asked for a set which brings fries and a drink. When it comes to the fries, you have a choice of straight cut French fries, wedges, or these wafu Japanese style fries that you see in the picture above. The wafu fries were interesting at first. They seemed to have the right amount of salt and were very soft to the touch. When I bit into them, I got a huge explosion of potato to my taste buds. It was nice for a while, but they reminded me of tater tots but without that satisfying crunch that comes from the outside skin of the tater tot. It was fun to eat these wafu fries, but I would probably order regular fries next time.
So how was the burger?

Look at those buns!

After I finished the wafu fries, I bit into my burger. The buns were nice and fluffy, like a corgi's buns. What impressed me was the beef patty. I was not expecting the beef patty to be so meaty and soft. It just melted in my mouth the more I chewed. I loved this burger and loved the whole corgi buns gimmick. The avocados were fresh and the cheese was delicious.
Unfortunately, the cute thing about the buns is also its weakness. Halfway through the burger, all the contents slid to the back of the burger bag. I know that the avocados had a big fault in that, but the buns did not help the situation. I ended up grabbing a fork and picking up the leftover patty and vegetables from the back of the burger bag. It was a bit inconvenient but still a delicious burger.

After I finished my burger, I thanked the staff and headed home while the toy poodle wagged its tail at me as to say "We both had amazing meals!" Yes we did Mr. Toy Poddle, yes we did.
I enjoyed my burger and my time at Corgi Buns Burger. The burger was excellent and I love the fact that you can enjoy a burger with your furry companion. As far as the price of the burgers go, it is not very expensive but it wasn't cheap either. Otherwise, positive notes all around.

So if you are walking your dog around Midorino and feel like you can go for a burger, why not give Corgi Buns Burger a chance? Who knows, you might see me there, enjoying a burger while asking you if I can pet your dog.
Enjoy!
