Burger Month: Burger Tacos!?
Is it a burger? Is it a taco? No, it is a Burger Taco!

Welcome to Burger Month my fellow Ibarakians!
It is March and that means that the Burger Baka event is just around the corner. This year, Burger Baka is on the fourth Sunday of this month, March 23rd. You can bet I will be making a full report on all the burgers I consume there.
Before that though, I will be talking about all the burger places I have visited this year so far, I have done it every year and it has always been fun. This year, I am doing something a little unusual. I am not talking about a traditional burger, but a crazy hybrid of a burger and a taco. A tacos burger if you will. I found this tacos burger at the Kitchen Car Fest that happened last weekend at Hokota City. It was a pretty tasty tacos burger.

Kitchen Car Fest
Last Saturday, I headed to Hokota to check out the Kitchen Car Fest at Kashimanada Seaside Park. This food truck event was insane. 300 food trucks signed up to be part of this event. So the event had 150 food trucks on Saturday and 150 food trucks on Sunday. It was wild to see food trucks from Hitachinaka, Tsukuba, Tsuchiura, Ishioka, Hitachi, and many more cities from around Ibaraki at this event. I walked around with a friend and greeted all the food trucks I knew. And Burger was there selling their burger sliders, Arthur Meshi was cooking up some jerk chicken, Kaltena was frying some tasty kaarage, Drool Diner was flipping burgers, I could go on and on.
There were also a lot of food trucks I had never heard of. The Oasis made a delicious cup of cafe latte, Sounosuke Curry made an excellent cup of curry, and Ragga Ragge Spicy Kitchen made an incredible jerk chicken. While walking around, one food truck stopped me in my tracks. It was called Jiji and Baba which made me laugh. Then I looked at their menu and my brain could not compute with what was written on it. "Tacos Burger!?" I said to myself. I have to try it.

Jiji and Baba
Jiji and Baba is a food truck from Hitachinaka City. Jiji means old man, and Baba means old woman. The couple that were running the food truck were not young, but I don't think they were really Jiji and Baba age just yet. This food truck has a very simple menu, and the great news is that it is in both Japanese and English. On the left side of the truck is all the ice cream, which I wasn't very interested in since it was a cold day. The right side of the menu is what caught my attention.

The Menu
The menu as I explained before is very simple. There is the regular tacos burger, the spicy tacos burger, and the ham and cheese taco. I decided to give the regular tacos burger a chance. The Baba, I guess I will call her that, told me to wait a few minutes. It was interesting to see the Jiji, take out a tortilla and line the inner wall of the tortilla with a beef patty and then grill it. When the meat was all cooked, they put cheese, lettuce, some pink mystery sauce, and handed me my tacos burger.

Tacos Burger
Looking at my tacos burger, I did not know what to think. This hybrid of two things I love is in my hand. Some people would call this blasphemy and shun it all together. I, on the other hand, am willing to try everything once. I bit into my tacos burger and wasn't too sure if I loved it or not. The sauce was a very mild spicy mayo and all I got was lettuce. I took another bite and then automatically fell in love with this tacos burger.

This is a tasty tacos burger!
The more I bit into this tacos burger, the more I liked it. I even found a nice surprise of a few pickles inside it. I loved how the beef patty was all around the inside of the tortilla and how the melted cheese inside added to the delicious beef flavor. I didn't think a tortilla could work for a burger but it does. I told my friend that this would be my first post for Burger Month and I do not regret my decision. After finishing my tacos burger, I thanked the Jiji and Baba, for an amazing tacos burger. I then saw that they would be attending the Burger Baka event later this month and I let them know that I will see them there.
This was an interesting and delicious experience I will soon not forget. Who knew that a tacos burger would work so well. If you are planning on going to Burger Baka, I recommend giving this food truck a chance. The great thing is that the tacos burger is not too big, so you will still have room in your stomach to try the other burgers at the event.
Jiji and Baba, thank you for a fantastic tacos burger. A big thank you to the Kitchen Car Fest for having such an awesome event. Jiji and Baba usually travel around northern Ibaraki and Hitachinaka. So if you happen to spot their truck, why not give them a chance? Who knows, you might see me there, trying the spicy tacos burger.
Enjoy!
