Hey everyone!
How is this unreasonably hot summer treating you? I apologize for being absent last week. I am currently traveling around with my cousin, who is visiting from the States. One of our travels took us to the most famous mountain in Ibaraki, Mt. Tsukuba. We checked out Tsukuba Shrine and then took the cable car up to the observation area before trekking up to the peak. Before we headed up to the peak, the woman's peak to be exact (the highest point), we saw a little cafe that we decided to check out. I had heard about this cafe before from many coffee lovers, so I couldn't wait to try it. This is how we found ourselves at 877 Stand.

877 Stand
877 Stand is a small cafe located near the cable car station on Mt. Tsukuba. When you ride the cable car from Tsukuba Shrine up to the top of the mountain, exit the cable car station, head straight, and it will be on your left.
My cousin and I were dying from the summer heat and decided to walk into the cafe, grab a seat, and an ice-cold coffee. Unfortunately, Mrs. Ibaraki Eats could not join us since she was working. It was just me and my cousin.

Inside
When we walked inside 877 Stand, I instantly fell in love with the place. Everything around the cafe was made of this pristine wood that shone in the sunlight. There were hikers all around the cafe, enjoying their coffee and taking a break from their hike. The left side of the cafe is the souvenir store, which sells 877 Stand t-shirts, keychains, stickers, and more. The t-shirt looks really cool, so I suggest checking that out.
The right side is the cafe area. There are a few tables around the cafe area that sit up to four people each. The best seats are the counter area seats by the window. You can enjoy a great view while sipping on your coffee. Unfortunately, since those seats are popular, we could not sit at the counter area. Instead, we just sat at one of the tables and checked out the menu.
The menu is mainly coffee: long black, espresso, flat white, mocha, and caramel latte.
The menu also has waffles for a nice snack and different juices for kids.
My cousin and I decided to try the items from the special menu. One was a delicious lemonade, and the other was an interesting icy coffee.

Mountain Lemonade
If you are trekking up Mt. Tsukuba and you need a refreshing drink to keep you going, then you need to try this lemonade. This mountain lemonade is made with manuka honey, which is from the manuka flower. It gives it a nice aroma and sweet taste. Plus, the lemonade has fresh lemons and a little bit of herbs in it for added flavor. I took a sip of this lemonade, and I automatically felt cooler and had more energy. The perfect mixture of slatiness and sweetness of this lemonade was just what I needed to keep me going to the top. This is the perfect drink for a hot summer day.

Snow White Espresso
Speaking of drinks that will keep you cool during the summer heat, the next drink we tried was the special Snow White Espresso. Only available during summer, this amazing-looking drink comes with a shot of espresso (actually a bit more than a shot) and iced condensed milk. The iced condensed milk looks like ice cream, but the texture feels like that fine powdery kakigori. The staff told us to pour the espresso into the condensed milk and try it quickly since it melts rather fast. That's what we did, and this is what it looked like after we did that.

Beautiful Looking Snow White
Once we poured that espresso into the snow white, it looked very inviting. I grabbed the spoon we were given, scooped up some snow white with espresso, and gave it a try. First off, I got an amazing flavor of delicious cream mixed with a hard but slightly fruity espresso. Secondly, my whole body cooled down instantly after I had my first spoonful. My cousin gave the snow white a try and loved it. He is a coffee lover like me, and he is very particular about his coffee, so when he said that it was delicious, that means a lot.
As for me, I loved every single spoonful of the snow white that I had. It was even better when I drank the melted part that was on the bottom of the glass. I would love to have this drink again the next time I decide to climb up Mt. Tsukuba.

Amazing View
After we finished our drinks, I thanked the owner of the cafe for their lovely lemonade and snow white, and then headed with my cousin to the peak to give him a great view of Ibaraki.
Our stop at 877 Stand was a fantastic experience. The atmosphere of the cafe is great, the lemonade is delicious, and the coffee is excellent. I hope I can go to 877 Stand again soon, but I am not sure when I will be trekking up Mt. Tsukuba again. If I do go up Mt. Tsukuba again, I will most definitely be stopping by 877 Stand.
So if you are trekking up Mt. Tsukuba and need a place to relax and have a great cup of coffee, why not give 877 Stand a chance? Who knows? You might see me there. Enjoying some great coffee while admiring the view.
Enjoy!
